Chow-Yang Lee is a professor and endowed Presidential Chair in Urban Entomology at the University of California, Riverside, USA. Prior to this, he was a Professor of Entomology at Universiti Sains Malaysia for 23 years. His research direction centers around understanding behavioral, ecological, and physiological adaptations of urban insect pests, and how these adaptations help them to thrive in the urban environment.
Don Ewart BSc(Hons) PhD, known as Dr Don, is a scientist best known for termite work. He does contract research and assessments, consulting, training, field biologist quality assessments for industry and provides expert witness testimonies.
Don teaches the Certificate III course in Urban Pest Management at Melbourne Polytechnic, in Melbourne Australia.
Andrea holds a PhD on Medical and Veterinary Entomology from the University of Sydney and has collaborated with researchers from all over the world, amassing the largest collection of Cat Fleas from 57 countries. Her topic on how Cat Fleas have spread in Asia and the rest of the world is sure to wake us up about this emerging pest.
Ogie as he is fondly called, completed his Master of Science in Entomology from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB); and received his PhD on Entomology and Plant Pathology from the North Dakota State University, USA. Among his many notable credits include two insect species named after him, the Halovelia sumaldei Zettel in 1998 and the (Insecta: Heteroptera: Veliidae) Potamometropsis sumaldei Zettel (Insecta: Heteroptera: Gerridae) in 1999.
Dr. Kevin Sweeney has worked in entomology and pesticide regulation for more than 30 years, 18 years of which was at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) where he led technical and regulatory efforts in pesticide registrations as well as leading national and international projects on urban pests and health, insect repellents, and product performance standards. Dr. Sweeney also served as Technical Advisor to the WHO Pesticide Evaluation Scheme (WHOPES) responsible for publishing pesticide testing and registration guidelines. Now at Landis International, he leads the development of technical and regulatory strategies for pesticide registration and WHO recommendations.
As a holder of PhD in Zoology from the University of Madras in India, Dr. Partho Dhang has worked for both private and government institutions in several countries. His research works from insect physiology to semio-chemicals and microbial pesticides has been published in various journals. Partho is prolific speaker in international conferences and has also published four books from CABI International UK. Presently, Partho is an independent consultant in research and development, product evaluation, and training of practitioners.
Dr. Andy has a background in Animal Behaviour, with a PhD focusing on Wild Rat Feeding Behaviour. He has spent the last 25 years working in the Pest Control industry in a variety of roles with Rentokil Initial.
Birdie Salva is the co-founder of Curiosity, a design research consultancy that provides local insight through ethnographic approaches. Birdie has worked on over 100 research projects for companies like Johnson & Johnson Philippines and The Fred Hollows Foundation that helped develop new customer service and employee touchpoints like mobile apps, websites, chatbots and various personal account management platforms to make sure that these digital tools are usable, understandable, and relevant.
